The safety of automations is now very often entrusted to the anti-crushing systems of the operators, both sliding and swinging. This is fine as long as the gate is modest in size and therefore the anti-crushing function of the new control units works very well.
However, when the gate, especially the sliding gate, has a large size and weight, then a sensitive edge must necessarily be installed that allows the movement of the leaf to be stopped in the event of a collision. In fact, when the gate weighs more than 500 kg, not all anti-crushing systems are able to correctly detect the impact and stop the movement of the leaf.
In the past, installing a sensitive edge on the front of the movable sash was a problem, as the wired connection was always at risk of creating problems. Over the years, flexible cables, reels of different sizes have followed.
But any system couldn't guarantee a secure and reliable connection. Especially in winter, the cables tended to break, making the gate unusable.
All this is now in the past. In fact, with the new radio safety coasts , the problem of the connection is completely circumvented.
The sensitive edge incorporates a transmitter powered by 2 lithium batteries that guarantee a life of about 2 years. However, AA batteries are easily available. The radio receiver can be conveniently connected to the control panel, from which it will be powered. The receiver can be powered by 12/24 V dc/ac without any problems. Below we summarize the characteristics of the transmitter, radio receiver and the rib:
